Shots fired in Sanford Walmart parking lot, suspect in custody

SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man has been charged with robbery after an incident outside the Walmart store in the 3100 block of N.C. Highway 87 in Sanford.

It all started just before noon Wednesday when police were called to the parking lot on a shots fired call.

Police learned a man had been robbed of money and a cell phone. The suspect then got into a car with a driver and tried to get away.

The victim followed the suspect's car and the passenger fired several shots while in the parking lot before crashing.

Police arrested 22-year-old Dwayne Solomon Jr., of Sanford. He's being held in the Lee County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

More charges are pending.

No injuries were reported.
