Local boy helps raise money for sick infant Hudson Bond
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The outpouring of support for a sick Durham infant who is in need of a new heart continued Friday night with a selfless gesture from a little boy in Raleigh.
Wyatt Gore celebrated his fifth birthday with friends and family at Coconut Charlie's Bump and Bounce in Raleigh.
For the last several weeks, Wyatt and his mom have been reading about Hudson Bond. The two-month-old remains at Duke Children's Hospital awaiting a heart transplant.
Wyatt was so moved by Hudson's story that he told guests at his party not to bring gifts for him but to bring cash or checks to donate to Hudson's organ transplant fund.
Wyatt's mom said he's learned what life's really all about.
"They can see Hudson and see that all kids sometimes need a little bit of help," said Wyatt's mother, Amanda Gore," and it teaches them that life isn't always about stuff."
ABC11 first told Hudson Bond's story two weeks ago after Facebook denied his father's ad post -- saying the picture of the infant was "too graphic." Facebook has since reversed its decision, and personally apologized.
Donations have poured in from around the world to the tune of $120,000.
