One confirmed death after crash on I-40 E

RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Raleigh police confirm that one person is dead after an accident on I-40 E near Wade Avenue.

Authorities said that at around 10:30 a.m. the car left the roadway and hit a tree.

There were four people in the car, they were all taken to the hospital for injuries.

The identity of the person is unknown.

Two right lanes near Ex 289 are currently closed.
