Tree falls on truck in storm, trapping Durham driver

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A large tree fell on a U-Haul truck in Durham as severe storms moved through the area Friday.

It happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Fayetteville Road between Cook and Cornwallis.

The driver had to be extricated from the truck.

Firefighters had to cut tree limbs to reach the driver, who sustained head and back injuries.

The victim was taken to a hospital by Durham County EMS.
