Over 1,000 Wake Forest customers without power, squirrel damages transformer

WAKE FOREST, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Over 1,000 Wake Forest Power customers are without power Saturday afternoon after a squirrel came in to contact with a transformer.

Affected areas include portions of Elm Avenue, Holding Ridge Subdivision, Pineview Estates Subdivision, South Main Street, Durham Road, Bennett Park Subdivision and Tyler Run Subdivision.

Crews are on the scene, and power is expected to be restored within the hour.
