Pair charged with street racing in Wake Forest

WAKE FOREST, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Two men face charges after police say they were caught racing their cars east along the Dr. Calvin Jones Highway/NC 98 Bypass Wednesday.

The Wake Forest Police Department said a Ford Mustang driven by 21-year-old James Hoy IV was clocked on radar doing 112 mph.

Officers said 20-year-old Dashon Hunter was trying to keep up in a Honda Civic.

Hoy is charged with spontaneous speed competition, careless and reckless driving, speeding over 55 mph above speed limit, and having blue lights on the Mustang. Hunter is charged with driving while license revoked, speeding over 45 mph above speed limit, careless and reckless driving, spontaneous speed competition and altered tags on the vehicle.

Both were arrested and taken to the Wake County Jail.
