Strong storm downs trees, damages buildings in Smithfield
SMITHFIELD, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Strong storms pushed through Johnston County on Wednesday evening, causing damage to buildings and knocking down some trees and power lines.

The National Weather service said Thursday morning that the damage was caused by straight-line winds with estimated wind speeds of 60-70 mph.
Workers were kept busy clearing tree limbs from numerous streets. One woman was injured when a tree fell on her car. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Her condition was not immediately known.
Also, in Smithfield, a hazmat team was responding to Flanders Precision Air on Wal Pat Road. Water rushed into the parking lot, listing two large propane tanks off the ground.
On Brightleaf Boulevard, at least two area businesses - Dollar General and Chavez Tire - had windows blown out by the storm's winds. Workers boarded up windows and cleaned glass and other debris around the businesses.
Across the street, the winds knocked down the awning and damaged roof tiles at Dulceria la Piñata.
No one was injured in those incidents.
