Case of whooping cough confirmed at Broughton High

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A student at Broughton High School in Raleigh has tested positive for whooping cough, according to Lisa Luten with the Wake County School district.

The principal released a statement in the form of a note that went home with students Monday afternoon.

Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious respiratory disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
