Pedestrian killed off Rock Quarry Road

RALEIGH According to a Highway Patrol officer, a driver ran off the road and hit a guardrail on Interstate 40 at Rock Quarry Road at exit 301 late Monday night. Then his car burst into flames.

He stumbled out of the wrecked car when a passerby stopped to help on the other side of the road.

The passerby tried to run across the interstate to meet up with the man in the accident when another car hit and killed the man who wrecked his car.

Authorities still have not released the identity of the man who was killed.
