Authorities say the 15 passenger van was heading north to New Jersey from Homestead, Florida when it ran off the road, crossed over the center line, struck a ditch and overturned.
The van was carrying 10 people but only three of them were wearing seatbelts. Officials say everyone was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with minor injuries. One person was air lifted, but none of the injuries are considered life threatening.
Authorities have not released details about the victims and the extent of their injuries.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says the driver of the van, 23-year-old Donato Flores, likely fell asleep at the wheel. They say no charges are being filed at this time.
Authorities closed the northbound lanes to clear the scene and reopened them around 9 a.m. Sunday.
