KOB-TV reports 50-year-old Keith Wright was released into the custody of his brother. He was arraigned Monday in federal court in Albuquerque.
The station reports that Wright and his brother will travel to California where Wright will face federal charges stemming from the incident aboard a Charlotte-to-Los Angeles US Airways flight.
After taking his clothes off, flight attendants reportedly asked Wright to get dressed, but he refused. Authorities said a flight attendant then attempted to place a blanket over Wright, which he removed and kicked under a seat.
KOB-TV reported that officials say a mixture of prescription medication, alcohol and altitude may have prompted Wright's actions.
