Ryan Clark is a soldier based at Fort Bragg. He had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.
"We arrived on scene there. We found there had been one male person who had been shot and there was a female that was in the house as well. We also learned that this was a married coulple and that the shooting was the result of a domestic despute," Cumberland County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Debbie Tanna explained.
Ryan Clark was taken to Cape Fear Medical Center where he underwent surgery. He is currently in stable, but serious condition.
Amanda Clark has been charged with attempted first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
She remains in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
