Rocky Mount officer attacked

An officer was attacked in Rocky Mount after the city's night clubs closed Sunday morning.Police said a group was gathered in the Circle K parking lot on Wesleyan Boulevard when a fight broke out.

The officer was at the scene trying to break up the crowd.

According to reports, while he was trying to arrest 20-year-old Tiffany Ricks for disorderly conduct, 20-year-old Brandy Harrison attempted to interfere and assaulted the officer.

Harrison was taken into custody and was charged with assault on a government official and resist, obstruct and delay. She was placed in jail under a $3,000 bond.

Ricks was charged with disorderly conduct and given a $1,000 bond.
