Couple arrested in fraud scheme

RALEIGH Investigators say they defrauded Cisco Systems of $23 million.

Authorities arrested 33-year-old Mario Easevoli and 28-year-old Jennifer Easevoli on September 28 2009 in Tucson, Arizona.

The Easevoli's ran a company called Synergy Communications Corporation or Synergy.

Authorities say another man, 33-year-old Jason Conway, worked for Synergy and played a role in the scheme. Agents are currently looking for him.

All three face charges of conspiring to commit mail fraud, aiding and abetting mail fraud, and conspiring to commit money laundering.

According to court documents, from January 2003 to July 2005 the defendants submitted fraudulent claims to Cisco in order to receive replacement parts.

They then sold the replacement parts on the grey market to customers and deposited the payments into a Synergy bank account.
