Blue Cross to cut 80 jobs

CHAPEL HILL

The move will mean 80-90 jobs will be lost. BCBS said it will save approximately $1.6 million to $2.1 million.

"This is a difficult decision that will affect good employees whom we care about. It is part of our ongoing work to reduce our costs to keep premiums as affordable as possible for our customers and to remain competitive as a company," said BCBSNC President and CEO Brad Wilson in a statement.

Blue Cross of North Carolina serves more than 3.7 million members.
