The intersection, located south of Rolesville, currently requires vehicles on Jonesville Road/Peebles Road to stop, but those using Mitchell Mill Road can travel through without stopping.
The DOT says the change should improve safety.
The intersection was the scene of an accident in September 2010 that left a Zebulon man dead.
