Man arrested at Governor's mansion

RALEIGH Authorities say around 2 a.m. police in Raleigh found 21-year-old Alan Connor Herndon trying to climb the fence that surrounds the stately home on North Blount Street.

They say Herndon was intoxicated and told them he was looking for somewhere to use the restroom.

Herndon was charged with first-degree trespassing and placed in jail under a $500 bond.

Police haven't said if Governor Bev Perdue was inside the residence at the time of the incident.
