Teen charged after man found shot inside car dies

Fayetteville police have charged a 16-year-old with murder after a man was found shot inside a car that was parked in the middle of a high-traffic road Friday.Around 7 a.m. Friday, officers found 39-year-old James William Lowery Jr. sitting inside a car while it was parked in the median in the 5100 block of Bragg Boulevard not far from Fort Bragg.

Lowery was suffered from gunshot wounds and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. He later died Saturday from his injuries.

Authorities have charged Devonta Maurice Bandy with first degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was arrested shortly after the shooting on Friday.

An investigation has revealed that Bandy was driving a white Ford Escort at the time of the shooting that was reported stolen from Cameron, NC.

Bandy is currently in jail.
