Authorities are searching for the person or group responsible for spray painting derogatory words on the door of NC State's Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Center.

The purple paint on the door was covered up early Tuesday morning when ABC11 went to the center inside Harrelson Hall.

However, the university's student newspaper showed a photo of the vandalism before it was cleaned up Monday night.

The Technician reports that "fags burn" was painted on the door and "DIE" was written on a glass display case outside the center.

Campus police told the newspaper that the vandalism happened between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday.

They have no suspects at this time, but said the vandalism was being considered a hate incident.

Authorities are currently reviewing surveillance video in an effort to identify the person responsible.
