Suspect sought in robbery, sexual assault

Authorities in Fayetteville are trying to identify the suspect responsible for robbing a convenience store and sexually assaulting the store's clerk.

Authorities in Fayetteville are trying to identify the suspect responsible for robbing a convenience store and sexually assaulting the store's clerk.

The incident happened just after 1 a.m. Tuesday at a convenience store in the 6000 block of Yadkin Road.

Authorities said the suspect entered the store with a handgun and stole money and merchandise before taking the female clerk into a back room of the store and sexually assaulting her.

After the incident, the suspect left the store in a dark colored Chevy Corsica or Pontiac Grand Am, headed on Fillyaw Road towards Reilly Road.

The suspect is described as a medium-to-dark skin toned African American man between the ages of 25 to 35-years-old and standing about 5' 7" to 5' 8" tall. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with the word "Baller" written across the back, dark jeans and a dark cap.

Anyone with information about the suspect, the crime, or recognizes the jacket, is asked to call detectives with the Special Victims Unit of the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
