Woman joins family in jail after robbery

FAYETTEVILLE

Police said 44-year-old Erin Whitmeyer demanded money from a clerk, shortly before 1:30 a.m.,at the Scotchman Convenience Store located at 6508 Yadkin Road. Whitmeyer allegedly had left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, when she was stopped by Fayetteville Police who were nearby and called to the scene.

While Whitmeyer was being arrested, police said she was also charged for another robbery at the same business that happened the previous Wednesday. Police said Whitmeyer walked into the Scotchman shortly after midnight on April 18, brandished a knife, and demanded money.

She was charged with one count of common law robbery and one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon. She is being held on a $20,000 secured bond.

Last Tuesday, Whitmeyer's son, 20-year-old Scott Whitmeyer Jr. was arrested after police said he attempted to rob a Sunoco located at 6295 Yadkin Road. Authorities said Whitmeyer walked into the Sunoco, displayed a knife, and demanded money. A customer heard the clerk scream for help, came to the clerk's aid, and detained the 20 year old until police arrived.

Scott Whitmeyer Jr. was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and is held on a $50,000 secured bond.

Forty-two-year-old Scott Whitmeyer, the husband and father of the aforementioned Erin and Scott, was arrested last December after police said he robbed the same Sunoco that his son recently robbed.

Police said the senior Whitmeyer was responsible for nine business robberies in total. He is being held on a $120,000 secured bond.
