RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A group of middle students is back in the Triangle after brushing elbows with the Royals.
Eighth graders from The Franciscan School came home Friday night from a field trip to our nation's capital. They wandered the White House, meandered through museums and memorials, had lunch on Capitol steps, and hugged a prince.
"He smelled really good actually," said student Bridget Monahan.
The students met Prince Charles and wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
"I'm still thinking this is a dream," said student Thomas Tran.
The group just happened to run into the royals on one of their excursions.
"He was in the National Archives and he was walking by," said Tran.
The students jumped at the chance to meet the heir to the British throne.
"The security guard was like grabbing my arm and so but yeah it was really cool," said Monahan.
"We knew that the prince was going to be in town. We had no idea the itineraries where going to match just perfectly," said Principal Jennifer Bigelow.
The match has left the students with memories to last a lifetime.
"I will never forget it forever. I'm just feel like a king now," said Tran.
