'Angels Among Us' holds fundraiser at Duke

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Raising money in the fight against brain tumors is the mission of the Angels Among Us.

The event happened Saturday at Duke. Light rain didn't stop about 4,000 runners and walkers from participating in the 5K Saturday morning.

The event raised about $2.1 million for the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke Medical Center.

The proceeds are critical because they can be used anywhere for brain tumor research and education.

Before Saturday's event, Angels Among Us had raised more than $16 million since it began in 1994.
