The assistant city manager says Jennifer Rodriguez resigned Wednesday, citing personal reasons.
She issued a ticket to a friend of the mayor's last fall.
The Fayetteville mayor then asked the city manager and police chief to help that friend get out of it.
After that ticket was voided, it sparked a huge public outcry.
