Voting 101: Everything you need to know

How do I find out where I vote on Election Day? To locate where you should vote on Election Day, check the Polling Place Directory by clicking here.

How do I check to see if my N.C. voter's registration is valid? To check your current voter registration information that is on file with the N.C. Board of Elections, click here. If you are unable to locate your information in the database, call the N.C. Board of Elections at (919)733-7173.

Where do I go if I would like to vote before Election Day? Voting prior to Election Day can be done at designated sites for one-stop early voting. You will be able to vote early October 16 - November 1. To find a site in your county here.

How do I register to vote if I have never registered before? There are many locations for first-time voters to register to vote. The deadline to register in N.C. is 25 days before the day of the election. That means you must register by October 10, 2008. I am a registered voter, either in N.C. or another state, but I have moved within N.C. Do I need to update my registration? Yes, you do need to update your registration because your physical address affects where you vote and what district offices you vote for. How do I change my party affiliation before Election Day? In order to change your party affiliation, you need to fill out a Change of Information Form. For a copy of that form, click here.
