NCCU female student robbed

DURHAM Just before 2 a.m. Monday, police say the 19-year-old student got out of her car at the intersection of Fayetteville and Cecil Streets. That's when they say two men wearing dark T-shirts, jeans and masks used a shotgun to threaten the woman before taking her purse and running.

She was not injured, but NC Central students are still shaken after a campus wide e-mail alert went out Monday warning of the two masked men.

"This isn't the first E-mail I've received about a crime alert so I was a little concerned," NCCU senior Anwar Carter said.

"I think people need to be a little more cautious about their surroundings, more aware and alert and read the e-mail alerts," Carter said. "If people will just read their e-mails and be careful and practice the safe tips everyone would be a lot better and safer here on campus."

Police are still investigating. Currently, they have no suspects in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call NCCU's campus police, or Durham Police.
