Police ID man shot, killed by officer

DURHAM An uniformed officer shot 25-year-old Oscar Alonzo Chavarria last Thursday morning after he was warned to drop his gun and didn't.

Police say they encountered Chavarria while checking on a shots fired call at an apartment complex on Hillcrest Dr. The SBI is still investigating the shooting.

The officers involved in the shooting remain on administrative duty with pay, which is standard procedure.
