When they arrived on scene, they found a garage beside a two-story home fully involved in flames.
Because of high winds, however, the fire quickly spread to the home, which, along with the garage, has been destroyed.
Firefighters tell us there were no injuries as a result of this fire. They say the family who lived in the home had gone into town. They were notified of the fire by their own alarm system.
At least six fire departments were involved in the fire fight, and more than three hours after the fire was first reported, they were still putting out hot spots. They will likely be doing mop-up activities well into the night.
In the process, they are having to deal with frigid temperatures as the water near their trucks freezes. A tent was brought in to keep firefighters warm.
Loss from the fire - just from the structures themselves - is valued at $917,000.
