Airport officials say 37-year-old Jonathan Gregg was working as a subcontractor at RDU when he let a traveler go around security.
"There was an individual who worked here for a contractor, he escorted a friend past the security checkpoint to help her catch a flight," explained RDU Spokesperson Mindy Hamlin.
Hamilin there was not a security threat and no flights were impacted by the incident.
"The TSA saw the individuals when they came onto the concourse, quickly notified RDU enforcement, and they were arrested and cited," said Hamlin.
Gregg was charged with a misdemeanor and had his badge revoked.
"We do know there was no ill intent. There was no security threat, we just know this was a bad judgement call," said Hamlin.
Gregg's friend went back through security and caught another flight.
