Student shot while selling chicken

DURHAM Authorities say a 24-year-old student at North Carolina Central University was cooking and selling jerk chicken outside LeWayne's Barbershop around 3:45 p.m. when a man approached him.

The man fired several shots at the victim and fled the scene in a gray, older model minivan.

Investigators believe the incident may have been an attempted robbery. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s with a brush-style haircut.

The victim was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
