The Suntrust Bank at 118 Small Pine Drive was robbed at 9:10 a.m.
Garner police used witness statements and a tracking dog to follow the suspect to the Days Inn at 3901 South Wilmington Street in Raleigh.
With the help of Raleigh police and the Wake County Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Jason Benton Matthews was taken into custody.
Evidence and money from the robbery was recovered.
Garner police say the investigation is ongoing and arrest warrants are pending.
