Tamayo and Ritacco were headed home from Bible study when the accident happened.

The driver of the SUV was Larissa Reardon, 37, also of Clayton. She and two passengers, Dominique Reardon, 14, and Kyle Reardon, 8, were also taken to WakeMed with unknown injuries.

Tamayo has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. She is set to appear in court on Feb. 15.
