Two reports of guns on NC State campus

RALEIGH

Around noon, witnesses reported a white male possibly carrying a gun. He was reported to be around 20 years old wearing a striped toboggan hat, tan jacket and baggy blue jeans. He was headed toward Riddick Hall.

Before that, around 10:43 a.m., witnesses reported a college age heavy set white male wearing a blue toboggan hat, dark jacket, dark pants walking on Current Drive toward Hillsborough Street.

In both cases, campus police said they immediately searched the area and talked to people nearby. No one matching the descriptions was found.

A campus spokesperson told ABC11 that the warnings to students were sent out in an abundance of caution.

Some students speculated the sightings could be related to the weeklong "Zombies vs. Humans" fundraiser on campus where students battle other students dressed as zombies with Nerf guns and other weapons in a charity fundraiser.

The reports came a day after the campus at Wake Tech was locked down after a phoned in threat of a gun.

A person has been arrested in that incident.
