Bedroom fire displaces seven

RALEIGH

That's near Wake Forest Road in Raleigh.

Officials said the blaze started in a bedroom of one of the units, and while no one was injured, smoke badly damaged one home.

Resident Noah Epp said he was two doors down from the fire.

"The whole top had a lot of smoke," said Epp. "They just told us to get out. I didn't grab anything; I just got out."

The damaged apartment is home to seven people, including several children, all who were displaced Sunday evening.

The Red Cross was working with the families to help them find shelter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
