When they arrived, they found 27-year-old Amanda Lynn Conway, of that address, suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Police said they believed the victim answered a knock at her door when an acquaintance asked to see an individual that was not at the residence.
At that time, police said, the acquaintance, brandishing a gun, fired at the victim and struck her as she closed the door.
Conway was taken to WakeMed for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Twenty-seven-year-old Justin Allen Priest, of Cape Breton Drive in Raleigh, was arrested in Durham Saturday night and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and taken into custody.
