They said the 28-year-old victim was walking down the street when someone grabbed from behind, then dragged her off the road and sexually assaulted her.

The unidentified woman told police that after the attack, the suspect fled the area on foot.

The suspect is described as an African American man in his mid-20s, standing 6' 1" tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He has short hair and a goatee.

The man was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and white sneakers.

Detectives said they do not believe the sexual assault was connected to an attempted sexual assault on Cliffdale Road Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives with the Special Victims Unit of the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 257-3668 or CrimeStoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
