Deputies said 23-year-old Karra Shanae Jones of Hope Mills called 911 Thursday morning to report that her 5-year-old daughter was taken from her car while she was inside a Kangaroo convenience store.
When officials arrived at the store on Camden and Natal roads around 8:30 a.m., they found Jones' other child inside the vehicle unharmed.
Deputies, along with a K9 team, began searching the area for the girl. She was later found at a day care, where her mother had dropped her off minutes before calling 911 about the disappearance.
Jones has been charged with child endangerment, DUI and misuse of the 911 communications system.
She is currently at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
