Durham church noise lawsuit settled

DURHAM, N.C.

Neighbors filed the suit in January alleging the Fayetteville Road church's performances and practice sessions were "akin to rock concerts." Five families living in The Hills at Southpoint subdivision joined the suit.

The church denied the allegations and said it had taken steps to mitigate sound levels. Noise testing was done in some of the homes during the discovery phase of the lawsuit.

Jury selection was to start Monday, with the trial expecting to last two weeks.

Both sides were back in the courtroom Monday afternoon to put the settlement on the record. They would not talk about the details of the settlement.
