SMITHFIELD - EVENT MOVED FROM WEDNESDAY DUE TO WEATHER - The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation and the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department hope that all area residents will come out to Smithfield's Annual Friends of the 4th Celebration and fireworks display. The celebration will again be on South Third Street, following the success of last year's event in the new location. Beginning at 6 p.m., the celebration will feature musical entertainment from The Main Event Band, as well as fun games and activities hosted by the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department. The independence celebration will conclude with a traditional fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.
