Authorities responded to 1135 Elm Street in Weldon in reference to a shooting around 3:30 a.m Sunday. When deputies arrived, they found 20-year-old Sequon Starks, of Weldon had been shot one time in the torso with a handgun.
Starks was transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies took 16 year-old Dashawn Hendricks, of Weldon, into custody Monday. Hendricks is being held in the Halifax County Detention Center under no bond.
