ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A chickenpox outbreak in western North Carolina now has more than two dozen people sick with the illness.

The Buncombe County Health Department is confirming 29 people have chickenpox and 28 are students at a private school in Asheville.

Officials said the outbreak remained under investigation and they are working with school leaders to figure out how so many people got sick.

Health experts strongly suggest that everyone get their children vaccinated.
