Nursery school employee charged with felony child abuse

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WTVD) -- A nursery school employee was arrested for felony child abuse in Southern Pines on Wednesday.

The Southern Pines Police Department responded to an incident at the Humpty Dumpty Nursery on Richards Street. They arrested 35-year-old employee Wendi Jean Hargrove.

Police said a ten-month-old child sustained a severe head injury and was treated at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.

Hargrove appeared before the Moore County Magistrate and is being held under a $75,000 secured bond. Her hearing is on February 11.
