Durham street shut down as police conduct shooting investigation

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Durham Police are conducting a shooting investigation near downtown on Saturday.

Liberty Street from Elm Street to Alston Avenue is closed as officers conduct the investigation.

Officers responded just before 10 a.m. to reports of a shooting and found a man who had been shot.

The victim was taken to a hospital by EMS with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

DPD said this appeared to be an isolated incident.

Police ask people to avoid the area.

No other details were immediately released.
