Cary police investigating hacking at Panther Creek High School

CARY, NC (WTVD) -- In a letter to parents, Panther Creek High School says the Cary Police Department is investigating after the school's computer network was hacked.

"We regret to inform you that we recently discovered an unauthorized access to our information system," the letter reads.

"A few students' grades were impacted and their parents have been notified. For all other students, all academic data (SATs, ACTs and GPAs, and grades) are accurate and remain unchanged. Class ranking, however, was briefly impacted earlier this month for most seniors," the letter continues.

The school said it will restore class ranking and will be contacting colleges where students sent or uploaded transcripts to give them the corrected transcripts.

"We want to assure you that we take our academic integrity as seriously as you do," said the school.

Officials said the records involved were limited to the senior class.
