Evanston, Illinois raising tobacco age limit to 21

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Tobacco will soon be treated like alcohol in north suburban Evanston.

The city is raising the minimum age to buy cigarettes and other tobacco products to 21. The new ordinance takes effect on Saturday.

The city says this is a major step toward decreasing young adult tobacco use.
