FREE MAMMOGRAMS BEING OFFERED ON NATIONAL MAMMOGRAPHY DAY OCT. 16

Friday, October 16 is National Mammography Day, a day to encourage women to make an appointment for a mammogram. To celebrate National Mammography Day, and National Breast Cancer Awareness month, many clinics are also offering free mammograms.

In the Triangle, Raleigh Radiology is offering free mammograms for uninsured patients at several locations in Wake County including the Cary, Cedarhurst, Raleigh, Brier Creek, Wake Forest, and Clayton offices.

"The patients have to be over 35 years old and they can't have any symptoms," explained Dr. Laura Thomas, a Women's Imaging Radiologist with Raleigh Radiology.

"Also, they have to have a physician to whom we can send the report," she said.

President Clinton declared October 16 National Mammography Day in 1993.
