Rocky Mount man, 65, found beaten to death on roadway

ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Rocky Mount Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a roadway early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded at 2:53 a.m. to a report of a person lying in the road in the 500 block of Arrington Avenue.

When they arrived, they found 65-year-old James Earl Harper of Rocky Mount dead of injuries received in an assault.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.
