OXFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol said two people were killed just outside Oxford Monday morning when a tractor-trailer collided with two cars.

It happened just after 10:30 a.m. at N.C. Highway 96 and Oxford Loop Road.

Troopers said the truck was headed east on Oxford Loop when it failed to stop at the stop light and hit a vehicle headed south on Highway 96.

The truck then hit a second car headed north on Highway 96 pushing it down the road and finally coming to rest partially on top of it.

Both the driver of the second vehicle, 70-year-old Bobbie Wilson, and her mother, 94-year-old Lou Rawls, died at the scene.

The driver of the first vehicle suffered only minor injuries.

The truck driver, Michael Green, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and a stop light violation. He was placed under a $10,000 secured bond.
