NTSB: Pilot reported control issues before deadly Hope Mills plane crash

HOPE MILLS, N.C. (WTVD) -- NTSB investigators released Wednesday more information about what may have caused the deadly plane crash in Hope Mills last month.

The plane crashed into a home on Pasadena Avenue on June 27, killing the pilot and a man inside the home. That man's wife was seriously injured but is recovering.

According to preliminary information from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the flight reported control issues with the airplane after takeoff. No further communications were received after that report.

The wreckage was later located about 2 miles southwest of the approach.

The NTSB report also says that, three days before the crash, the pilot told his friend about some issues he was experiencing with the plane's attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) fail amber caution light, which was illuminating unexpectedly.
