PWC reported around 1:15 p.m. that about 35,000 customers in parts of the western and central Fayetteville were in the dark.
The company said power was restored a short time later.
"The outage occurred at a point in our electric grid where PWC receives power from Duke Energy," spokesperson Carolyn Justice-Hinson said. "Early indications are something on the DE system caused it to trip the power on the PWC system."
PWC said when incidents such as this occur, the system reacted the way it should. The cause is being investigated.
Power restored! Let us know if you're still without service.
